Research on the 6th Marine Division in Tsingtao

I am preparing a paper on the 6th Marine Division in Tsingtao and would like to get inputs from Marines who served there. I served with H/2/5 1st Mar Div in Vietnam. Please contact me at fgreguras@hotmail.com.
Thanks,

Re: Research on the 6th Marine Division in Tsingtao

Hi Fred,
I am presently researching a now deceased Marine, Robert Sproul,  who was in the 6th Division, in the Engineer Battalion.  I have a four page brochure Thanksgiving Menu entitled Sixth Marine Division in Tsingtao, China, November 1945.  This must have been the meal for the Engineer and Pioneer Battalions as this is also listed.
The interesting part of the menu is(besides the good sounding mess) that forty or fifty of the guys signed the menu also listing their hometowns.  I also have a Confidential G-2 thick pamphlet book titled G-2 Study of the theater of operations Shantung Province, China, Sixth Marine Division.  The 6thMarDiv emblem is on the cover.  It is 150 pages both sides of all available knowledge of this area.  It is written in the typical Marine Corps boring as hell style--actually it is damn interesting as I read some excerpts from its typewritten pages.
I will send you some attachments on your email site if that is okay.  I also have two flags, Chinese.  Anyway, maybe you will have some interest in this material.  It is fascinating to me.

6th Division Marines--Does anybody remember a fellow Gyrene in the Engineer Battalion named Robert Sproul?
I am hoping to hear from Harry Stanifer, Adrian, Michigan.
And from Robert L. Miller from Ellwood, PA
Your signed autograph names were on Bob Sproul's  Thanksgiving menu from Tsingtao, China in November, 1945
First, I am hoping you Marines are okay.  I also hope I spelled your names correctly and listed your hometowns properly.  I would like to post a copy of this four page Thanksgiving menu in the forum but not sure how to, yet.  There are sixty names on the menu, all hand signed from all over the US.
Thank you for any attention to this request.

I should add that this quest for some information about Robert(Bob)Sproul has become fascinating and poignant.  He has two grand daughters that never knew him or his Marine Corps legacy.

Re: Research on the 6th Marine Division in Tsingtao

I don't have any information on Robert Sproul. Would appreciate photocopies of the menu and G-2 study for my research if possible. I was in the Marines from 1969-72.
Thanks

I have a mess of B&W photos from Tsingtao when my father was there.

Re: Research on the 6th Marine Division in Tsingtao

I would be interested in your research.  I did extensive research following my father's footsteps through Okinawa, but when it came to Guam and Tsingtao, I could find almost nothing.  I do know he was put in charge of a detail that escorted Japanese POWs back to Japan, and was able to find him listed on an LST log for this trip, but don't know anything else.
